FuturExec: The Academy – Making a difference to HR careers

Early this year, we launched our first ever FuturExec: The Academy programme aimed towards ambitious individuals who are at the earlier stages of their HR careers, keen to expand their knowledge and extend their network with like-minded HR professionals. Over the last 7 months, we have hosted 6 events – a mixture of roundtables, talks, and workshops on a range of topics.

Our events

We have been delighted to have been supported by the Academy by a range of prominent and expert HR professionals who have provided our participants with engaging subject matters. In our first session, we were joined by Alyson Fadil, CPO of N Brown who shared her career story with us, in our second session Laura Herbert, CPO of Apadmi and Nick Holmes, Global Head of Career Experience at Fishawack Health discussed the topics of EVP and employer branding, and in our latest session we were delighted to be joined by Catherine Kirkland, Inclusion Lead at Arla Foods and Sophie Cowen, Head of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at Shoosmiths who helped our attendees understand how they can create a successful D&I strategy.

In addition to our face-to-face events, we have hosted a number of roundtables on topics such as ED&I, hybrid working, and supporting employees through the cost of living crisis.

Making a difference

With a strong cohort of over 60 HR professionals attending a range of our events, at this halfway point into our programme, we wanted to find out how the academy has benefited them in their own career journeys, and we were delighted with the results.

83% of attendees surveyed rated our programme as either very good or excellent, with 100% stating that they would like to continue to attend FuturExec: The Academy events next year and 100% had discussed the Academy with their line manager.

When it came to discussing how the content from our events has helped and supported participants in their roles, we were delighted to hear that the events had a real impact on our attendees. From giving people ideas they can go and implement in their businesses, to writing proposals for long-term plans and changes, attendees stating they have grown in confidence, through to helping attendees understand what kind of HR Leader they want to be.

Testimonials

The academy has been fundamental to my development in my HR Manager role, through the programme I have had the opportunity to hear from people that I would consider like-minded role models, which has provided inspiration and support in how to transform our current HR practices.

The programme, team, and content are all excellent. I have really enjoyed the programme so far. The quality of speakers and subjects covered is very helpful and all relevant topics.

    - Head of Colleague Experience

It was a really informative and interactive session that encouraged ideas to be bounced back and forth. It was helpful having speakers from different sectors to see how a similar goal can be reached through different pathways. Really enjoyed and would recommend it to others.
